As you will read on down the way this post was begun on 23rd but not actually posted until 25th…
Expecting my son Tim and his wife, Suzanne for Christmas Eve Dinner…So I have been preparing all day!!! I have the biscuit bread and Cornbread ready for the dressing! Will finish tomorrow!!! So with this done I have begun to make my chocolate candy!!! This I do for enjoyment…I love making it…well I also love eating it but have to limit myself since I am diabetic…and after licking my fingers there is little sugar range left for actually eating. I usually make several kinds of bonbons. I make a cream/coconut filled with chocolate coating and also some with white chocolate coating. I make some with peanut butter cream and these with some chocolate and some with white chocolate. And this year I also made some chocolate cream coated in chocolate…and also white chocolate. I had some maraschino cherries and made a few coated in chocolate, leaving the stems extended. i know this is a lot of candy for 4 people but I will be giving most of it to others. I also made this for many years when there were 7 of us in the house…so it is hard to change fun habits….a few phots of my making it processes:
Chocolate cream filling…..
coconut cream filling….
peanuit butter cream filling….
chilling the filling in the refrigerator for a couple of hours…
and finally actually making the bonbons and then refrigerating again…
of course I didn’t get pictures of each process as I was too busy making other elements of our dinner in between steps…my tired old body really was put to the test but this something one does when they really want to impress family with an exceptional dinner…
The rest of the dinner I forgot to take pictures of until AFTER we had started eating or some even finished eating and the leftovers…which we will enjoy today….as I started this post on the 23rd but did not actually get it posted until the 25th…but maybe as should be….anyway here is some of the rest of the food and table ….
each place setting!!! forgot to brighten the pics…
purchased Edward’s pie….our favorite when I don’t have time for making!!!
dressing after eating!!!
giblet gravy after putting into refrigerator container….plastic butter bowl
ham and remaining turkey not yet taken from carcass…in refrigerator container..
corn casserole…
mashed sweet potato casserole after eating!!! see it goes quickly!!
green bean casserole after eating!! not much gone here!! but was good!!!
prepared whole and jellied cranberry sauce…just didn’t have enough time or energy to make from scratch!!!
devils food chocolate frosted 2 layer cake and 2 layer German chocolate cake with pecan/coconut cream frosting!!! delicious!!!
So after dinner we had some very good conversation between us…it was a most enjoyable day….we all got sleepy…probably from all the food and sugar we devoured….but it was good….then our guest….our son and wife left to go back home to Georgia and I settled in to watch “Roots”….I love this series…it always makes me feel grounded….to face the quilt of my ancestors for what they put such a wonderful race of peoples through…but I only made it til 8:30 and di not see the rest of the series because I was one tired Mama…so now….I wish everyone a most blessed and happy Christmas….with all the merriment you once felt as a child!! Merry Christmas!!!
